KEEP Collective Jewelry Composition
Many people ask about the source and composition of our materials - Read on for all the details!
First of all, I just want to clarify that all of our jewelry composed of metal(s) is lead and nickel tested. What does this mean? It means that our products are tested for lead content at certified testing facilities so as to meet rigorous standards required by applicable laws. However, our products are not entirely free of lead and nickel.
We have three types of bracelet bands, also known as Keepers: Leather, Multi Chain, and Mesh.
Leather Keepers:
- Made of genuine leather with a thin layer of fabric in the middle of the two layers of leather.
- This helps control the stiffness and thickness of the bands so that our charms can fit on as perfectly as possible!
Multi Chain Keepers:
- Made of ionic plated brass.
Mesh Keepers: See Allergy Considerations below
- Made of stainless steel with silver ionic plating.
- Commonly known as one of the "surgical steel" alloys, the (base metal) alloy is 316L steel.
- It is what is most commonly used for stainless steel products, including high end watch bands.
Our charms, also known as keys, are identical in composition to the multi chain keepers. We additionally have pave keys, which are only different in that they have stones attached.
Keys:
- Made of ionic plated brass.
- Pave stones are crystals.
Our earrings are additionally of the same composition as our multi chains and keys.
Earrings:
- Our earrings are silver/gold ionic plated brass with Titanium posts and plastic disc backing.
Allergy Considerations:
- We use different base metals, mostly brass, and our metals are ionic plated.
- Ionic plating includes titanium nitride and gold, silver or rose gold.
- Titanium nitride is a coating used in a lot of different industries for wear resistance and durability. Generally, this will not cause allergic reactions.
- Our stainless steel, which would have some nickel on it, and cause allergies on people with high sensitivity to nickel.
